Rethinking commitment

The number of people in Germany who donate money to good causes fell by half between 2005 and 2019 – and the trend is downward. For social projects this means: No money. No projects. No help. Particularly young target groups are not increasing sufficiently. What is the reason for this?

The world of marketing is changing rapidly. New formats, new channels, new technologies – what seemed certain yesterday is different today. Young adults today are apolitical, have little social commitment and are out for their own benefit – at least according to common belief. But that is not true. Instead, they ignore old structures and redefine for themselves how donating and personal commitment work.
