The coronavirus has also made life stand still in Uganda. The virus determines the everyday life of each of us and confronts the whole world with difficult challenges. The hygiene measures and corona regulations also affected schools and educational institutions in Uganda. Our partner training center BUYOPA-BVC had to be closed at the beginning of the year. But the trainees did not want to remain inactive.
Together with BUYOPA-BVC, we have launched a project that aims to protect people from the coronavirus! In compliance with strict hygiene regulations, tailor trainees were able to produce face masks in the BUYOPA_BVC facilities. These masks were distributed to staff in the surrounding medical facilities and people who cannot avoid physical contact with other people complimentarily. To make this project possible, we mobilized all forces. Also, Emerald Berlin was involved and supported the aid project: In June, we were allowed to start a takeover on Emerald's Instagram account. We were able to report about the project to the Emerald community and call for support. With great success! We were able to collect numerous donations to finance the raw material which was needed to produce the masks. In total, the trainees at BUYOPA-BVC sewed and distributed over 2,000 face masks to the community. We are so thankful for every supporter and all of the people involved to make this possible! The project proves that fighting together is the best way to encounter the virus.
